On The Outs

The internet and I are not friends right now. Or maybe it's just my computer.

Or both.

For 3 days now I have been trying to post a couple of Maggie pictures on my blog.

Please note: there are no pictures on this post.

First, we had a worm issue. That was fun. Our McAphee wasn't picking up any of the spyware we apparently had on our computer, so I spent time dealing with that.

After that was all fixed, the internet blocked Blogger as a restricted site, and for the life of me, I could not figure out was going on. The computer and internet have been conspiring against me ... which is weird because I rarely go on the computer on the weekends. Not even to check my email. I tend to disconnect for Saturday and Sunday, and LOVE it.

However, the gloves are now off and it is time to wage war. I have not won yet. I'll admit to being slightly obsessed and frantic at this point (the hormones aren't helping me here at all, btw).

I am finally back in Blogger, only to have my attempts at uploading pictures thwarted Every Single Time. It is making me crazy.

So, hopefully we'll figure this out and get some new pictures up. If not, I really hope you enjoy the written word and can draw a picture in your mind of our growning Peanut :)

Cross your fingers that we get this figured out ... before I lose my mind!

I Heart Bloggy Friends

Y'all.

I now have 10 followers.

10 whole people who purposely choose to visit me often enough that they added me to their list.

Is it completely vain and shallow of me that that THRILLS me?

Seriously.

That made me ridiculously happy :)

... off to pick-up the Doodle. Happy Weekend!

SUYL: Favorite Shopping Spots

I’m not a big shopper, really. I love buying for Maggie, or for any one of the number of kiddos in our lives, but in general, I’m just not a shopper. It was a gene my mom neglected to hand out at birth.

When I do shop, though, I certainly have an opinion on what establishments I am going to throw my moolah at … AND I shop sale/clearance racks. More bang for your buck. So here they are, in no particular order (and they are not on the list, but just assume that any bookstore I pass is a good place to shop!):

Target or Walmart
They’re my default places to shop for clothes and home accessories … 1) because they’re affordable and 2) I can also pick up groceries.

The Children’s Place
They have great post-season sales. I stocked up on warm weather clothes for 2010 in the fall of 2009, and nearly every piece I bought for Maggie was $4-$5 each. And since we live in AZ, she’ll get a lot of use from them!

Gap
This is basically the only place I can find jeans to fit my booty. I totally shop their sale/clearance racks for great finds.

JC Penney
I would say 98% of my work and church clothes come from here. Again, I shop the sale and clearance racks because, seriously, I just can’t justify paying $54 for purse. The one I currently have was originally $54 that I got ½-Off PLUS another 10% off – you just can’t beat that!

Payless
Hi, my name is Jennie and I have a shoe addiction. ‘Nuff said.

Amazon
Who doesn’t shop here? You can find nearly anything … I love finding used books that I haven’t been able to get a hold of locally.

Pink Bowtique
I have bought many of Maggie’s bows from here. Also, they were very accommodating with a special request and didn’t charge extra. Super nice customer service, great work, and cute bows … what’s not to like?

My Bambino
The only thing I’ve ever bought here are the piggy banks – they’re too cute and I buy them at some point for just about every kid I know!

Okay, I think that's it. For someone who doesn't shop much, I sure did end up with alot of places on this list :) Check out everyone else's fave spots at Kelly's Korner.

Possibly Hitting-Up My Audiologist Friend For Ear Protection

Have I mentioned that my lovely sweet precious little daughter is loud?

Loud. LOUD.

There's no TV watching in our home that isn't interrupted with the running commentary of our child. And trust me, she has lots to say. Or scream, as it is.

Oh, and don't try to talk to a cable/internet tech on the phone, either. I could barely hear the guy over Maggie's yelling, and it didn't help that I believe my helper was from India.

(I am quite familiar with that accent as it is who I have to talk to at work for tech issues. Good times.)

At least she's HAPPY loud :)

PS: Yes, we still have our Christmas up. Don't judge. I already 'splained myself about all that :)

You CAN Teach An "Old" Dog New Tricks ...

... as evidenced by my new blog design. Which I did all by my little ole self. (Add back pat here - haha!)

Well, me, lots of Coke, and some uber-helpful tutorials I found online. Specifically?
* Blogger Buster - super big help!!
* Kevin and Amanda - I used their tutorial regarding special fonts for post & sidebar titles
* Hackosphere

I loved my old design (by The Design Girl - loved it), but I just could not see paying more money whenever I wanted a new look (for whatever reason, holidays, birthdays, a whim), so I used Maggie's nap and/or playtime the past 3 days to gain a very simple understanding of html and css, downloaded some digital scrapbooking stuff and voila!

So, you're in the right spot, even though it looks different. And who knows when the urge to do this again will strike ... so don't be surprised if you show up and it has changed. This is redecorating I can do for FREE, so I plan to take advantage :)

Happy Thursday, y'all!

Cuteness

Maggie is trying so hard to crawl and it's just too cute - so I captured it on the Flip. Her big ole cloth diapered bum is adorable, if I do say so myself.

Besides, trying to crawl or not, who doesn't want to see that beautiful smile? Her Papaw almost doesn't want her to get teeth because he loves her toothless grin :)

9 Months Old and All Is Well

Maggie had her 9-month old check-up this morning ... which included NO SHOTS! She didn't have a clue, but I was ecstatic!!

Maggie is doing very well, in case you don't live close enough to hear the screams of joy eminating from our condo daily and reach that conclusion for yourselves. She is a HAPPY and LOUD baby :) Rolls around everywhere, scoots everywhere, bangs things, flings things, yells at things (cats!) and puts all things in her mouth ... she can be quite the little whirl of activity ... and she's not even crawling yet!

She weighs 17 pounds even and is 26.5 inches - still on the low side of the growth chart, but considering that she was a full 7 weeks early, the doctor is very pleased with her progress, and said that Maggie is actually "catching up" fairly quickly (apparently most preemies "catch up" to their age group by about age 2).

In other, completely unrelated news: I have yet to take down my Christmas stuff. I usually leave it all up until the Saturday after Epiphany anyway, so I should have taken it down this past weekend, but I just couldn't. It's so pretty sitting in the living room with the tree lights on and I'm just not ready to let that go. Hubby's comment was "then leave it up a while" so at least he's willing be one of those People Who Don't Take Christmas Down On Time with me. Either that or he just doesn't want to have to climb into the attic for boxes. I'm actually leaning towards option 2. And since he'll be away this coming weekend, it's likely we will have Christmas up for at least another 2 weeks.

Oh, darn :)

Of course, it is a little weird to be holding onto Christmas decorations when the weather is in the 70s. In January. In the 70s in January. Sigh. I miss having a winter.

Happy Monday, y'all!

I Hate Shopping ... Except When I Buy Things For My Baby Girl

It's becoming an illness, I think.

I don't shop for myself unless I have to. Have to. (Hubby bought me jeans for Christmas because I've been complaining about needing more for months on end without actually doing anything to rectify the issue.)

However, apparently I can drop a Trump-size amount when it comes to Maggie. Not that I have the dough to spend, but oooo, sometimes what I have found is just too stinkin' cute to pass up!

Girls are so fun to shop for!

My newest find is a sweet little Etsy shop named Cranberries and Capers. These are a few of my favorite items:

(We need this because Maggie has begun projectile spitting the binky when she's tired ... like in church where it then hits people either in front or back of your pew ... good times!)

(because Valentine's Day is right around the corner)

Happy Shopping!

Oh My Word, Is It Really 2010?

Wow, y'all.

We have some catching up to do.

In case you haven't noticed, I have been in absentia for the past couple of weeks in the blog world. For the 4 of you that missed me ... I'm baaaack! haha!

Lots of time off work with my little girl, plus sickness ran through our home the week before Christmas, and I had some dental work done, so I've been busy (or down, as The Cold dictated) and I just enjoyed being disconnected for a bit. But now it's time to catch up.

So, here we go ...

Maggie's first Christmas was sweet, if a bit overwhelming for our Doodle. Too many people, too many gifts, just too! too! too! She was not interested in unwrapping gifts, nor in the boxes, nor even in most of the presents themselves! Again, just too! too! too! It was fun, though, and we totally enjoyed it on her behalf :)

(As you can tell, we are sitting up really well! She still falls over backwards when looking or reaching for something, otherwise she is doing such a good job.)

Her favorite items were the little rocking horse that her Papaw Donatelli gave her, and the turtle off the top of a bath toy. She spent most of that afternoon and the next few days chewing on that turtle!

Maggie has been rolling all over for a while now, and you'll remember that she's also become an accomplished scooter, but now ... oh now ... We. Want. To. Crawl! She will get up on her hands and knees, rock back and forth, then slewp! those legs go down and backwards she goes. Which does not make her the happiest of campers since whatever (turtle!) was in front of her at the time and is now further away. Let's just say she gets a little testy when that happens :)

I'm thinking our cats are going to be Maggie's real motivation for crawling. The way she eyeballs them when they walk by ... ooooo, they are in for it! She loves to 'pet' them, and I use that term lightly - haha! We don't let her get rough with them, and are trying to teach to be soft and gentle with them, but our poor Cosmo ... he's so starved for attention that he will sit on Hubby's lap while he has Maggie and let her rub and pull on him all she wants. I never expected Cosmo would be so patient with our daughter - I gotta give him kudos!

We had a nasty cold visit our home 2 weeks before Christmas. First Maggie, then Hubby, and finally, me - the week of Christmas! Between that and the 2 days of dental visits that week, it was less a vacation and more like taking sick leave. Blagh! It hit Hubby and me much harder than Maggie, for which I'm thankful. Everyone is now completely recovered and ready for an illness-free 2010 :)
We had Christmas pictures made this year and I've been wanting to share them for weeks, but had to hold on to them because we were giving them as gifts and didn't want the grandparents to know. So now I can share our girl's sweet pictures ... finally!

We took Maggie to see the Zoolights this year. This was my first year seeing them, as well, and I really enjoyed it. There were so many lights!! It's hard to take pictures of lights but here is one anyway.

We didn't ring in the New Year. Hubby relatives, The Pecks, were in town, so we spent time with them before heading home to feed the Doodle and get her to bed by 9:30pm. Hubby and I both went up together around 10:30pm-ish. What can I say ... we sure know how to party!

I do hope everyone had a blessed and happy Christmas. And I hope Jesus was right smack in the middle of all the fun and family and fellowship :) Happy New Year and God Bless!
