An Easter / Birthday Celebration

Happy Easter! I hope your day was a wonderful as ours.

We started the day with Mass, and followed it with a day of family fellowship. Throw in an Easter basket, egg hunting, and birthday cake with a chocolate rabbit on top, and you have a happy 3 year old, too J

Easter & Birthday Preparation

Maggie's 3rd birthday is on Easter this year, so she and I had two things on our agenda this weekend before Sunday - to dye eggs and to make her birthday cake.

We accomplished both and had a blast J

Maggie's Frosty Party

I will readily admit that the idea of doing a Frosty the Snowman birthday party in April in Arizona was a little weird at first. I was excited because it would take some creativity to pull it off, but also a bit perplexed at the 'how' of it all. My girl loves Frosty, though, and since I try to 'theme' her parties around her favorite things, this was the obvious choice.

Maggie has been very excited about her Fwosty da 'Nowman pawdy for weeks now. As the decorations would pile up at my mom's, or she would see one of us working on something or talking about ideas, Maggie would open her arms wide and exclaim with a big smile, "I havin' a Fwosty burwfdee pawdy!" 

So, I turned a skein of yarn into a snowfall, yarn poms and styrofoam into colorful snowmen, and served white mac-n-cheese (one of M's favorite dishes), showman shaped brownies, and snow cones (the snow cones were a big hit - I think the adults enjoyed them more than the kids, with the possible exception of 'baby' Gabriel).

The best part is, my girl had fun with all her friends J 

Maggie Art

I couldn't resist displaying this card. Maggie is getting so much better about coloring in one area, as opposed to all-over scribbling :)

This is "M for Maggie". Not just "M", mind you, but "M for Maggie". (The small "M" was drawn with my hand over hers but please note the large "M" by the Doodle. What can I say? She's a genius!)

This card was sent to the mother of my step-siblings. She was on the bad end of a car accident with a drunk driver earlier this week and is in very critical condition. All that on top of a serious heart condition. Please pray for Pat's healing, and strength for her heart to endure the journey ahead.

Playing with Picnik

Even without access to my photo editing program (due to desktop death), I enjoy fooling around with Picnik to 'fix' my pictures.

Here is 'Li'l Miss Hollywood', before and after. Don't ask me to tell you how I did this - I tend to use the Random Click approach to photo-editing - but the main thing I wanted to accomplish was adjusting the color, and it turned out much better than I thought it would :) I really enjoy messing around like this, when I have the time, anyway, between work and enjoying Maggie. Most of the time you get photos straight out of the camera.
