A Long, Lovely Thanksgiving Weekend

I love Thanksgiving.

I love that both our families get together, so we don't have to split time between houses.

I love all the food, especially the turkey. It is, literally, the one day of the year I get turkey and I.LOVE.IT!

This year was extra special because Hubby and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary on Thanksgiving Day.  Nothing says 'Happy Anniversary' like eating yourself into a coma :)

Maggie received a sweet gift on Thanksgiving. A little backstory: Sister Bernadine was a very special person to our family, who passed a few years ago. We met her when my parents were living in Turkey - she served at the Vatican Embassy there in Ankara. A sweeter person you have never met ... and it never hurts to have a nun love you and pray for you! Anyway, after she retired to the motherhouse in Holland (she was Dutch), my mom went to visit her there. Long story short(-ish), even after Sister B passed away, my mom has kept in touch with one or two of the nuns she met while visiting. The nuns there have been specifically praying for us the past 3 years with all of our baby losses / pregnancy issues, and were among our strongest prayer supporters during our pregnancy with Maggie. So, they sent Maggie a Christmas ornament - her first one to start her own collection. How sweet it that?

I think I have most of our Christmas stuff out, but everything is not quite as it should be (the linens need ironing, and - oops! - we left the nativity in the attic and need to get it down). FYI ... putting all of the Christmas decorations out by yourself with a 7 month-old, not so easy :)

(Hubby had a wedding this morning, and his band had a gig this evening, so he wasn't just being a slacker.)

(Though he can be awfully bah-humbug-ish when it comes to helping with the decorating. Most guys, or only mine? Just curious ... )

Anyhu, I'll share pics once I get everything finished. Hopefully, y'all will be sharing photos, too - I love looking at Christmas decor. I totally steal love new ideas :)

Hope y'all had a Hap-Hap-Happy Thanksgiving.

P.S. I am in mourning for Auburn, btw. Trying not to dwell on it but MAN, we should have won that game. I should go before I get myself all worked up again ... AAAGGGHHH!!)

Odd and Ends

Whew!

Life has just gotten busy 'round here!

I'm taking a couple of minutes while Maggie is having fun in her playstation to just say 'hi!' and let y'all know what's been going on in the Webb household.

So ... up first ...

A couple of weeks ago, one of my very bestest friends - Ashli - came to visit for a long weekend and see Maggie for the first time.

(Ashli, Mary (Maggie's godmother) and I have been friends for a coon's age. We don't get to see each other much these days because we went 3 different directions after college, but whenever we're together it's like no time has passed at all since the last time we visited. Thank goodness for electronic communication - keeps us at least 'up-to-date' on each others lives.)

Needless to say, I was so happy to have Ashli here - I was up later than I have been since before pregnancy because we would just talk and talk and talk. I loved it! Makes me wish we all lived within driving distance (as opposed to flying distance). I'm glad she came out ... even if I had to fight her to pay for her lunch :)

Maggie quite enjoyed her company, too :)

Hello, friend! Can't wait to see you again!

Next ... we found our toes! And ever since, Maggie has not let go of them. When I get her up at 5:00 am and lay her down to change her diaper, UP go the feet and, with eyes still closed with sleep, she's yanking on her toes. It's the cutest thing, and I'd take a picture but, hello, it's 5:00 AM! I'm not even really awake yet!

And ... we rolled over this afternoon! From tummy to back! Alas, no picture of that accomplishment because Maggie (1) did when no one was watching, and (2) has refused our repeated requests to do it again.

Finally ... this past Friday was the first night of our Friday Night Friends group. Some friends of ours - all married with babies - got together Friday evening for a potluck dinner and fellowship. Hubby and I had such a good time. It was so fun playing with all the babies and taking time with friends that you see often around church and such, but don't usually get to really talk to and spend time with. We're rotating as the hosting home so no one person has to do that, everyone brings a dish, and we're meeting once a month. I'm so excited about this! It has been a desire of mine for a few years now, and to actually see it happen is so cool. Plus, since we all have babies, crying/screaming/drooling/pooping/burping/spitting-up/running-around baby-ness doesn't faze anybody. How great is that?!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

PS: As I was signing off, I looked over and this is what I saw:

Maggie has scooted herself completely off her playmat (and removed a sock) and y'all ... she is watching football. 'Scuse me. I think I need a tissue ...

Blessings From Heaven

I'm sitting here crying. Crying. For a baby I have never met but for whom I've prayed for so much over the past year and a half.

Stellan.

I'm so emotionally involved in that little guy's story. Check out MckMama for the fan-tab-ulous news. His journey isn't necessarily over, but this victory is a Victory.

Praise God! Thank you, Jesus!!

Happy Birthday, Sesame Street

I'm a Grover girl. Just thought I'd put that out there. He was definitely a favorite, and I loved There's A Monster At The End Of This Book. Still do, actually, and I can't wait to share it with Maggie.

In honor of Sesame Street's 40th Birthday today, I wanted to share a couple of my favorite SS moments.

(What would we do without YouTube?)

Enjoy your trip down memory lane ...

A Birthday And New Experiences

Our sweet little girl was 7 months old yesterday. Where has the time gone already?! We're practicing sitting up and Maggie is doing so well. Until she looks over her shoulder or reaches in that direction, then she goes 'boom'. But for someone who, technically, should only be 5 months old, she's doing grrrrrrrrreat!

Yesterday was also big because ... (drum roll, please) ... Maggie spent her first night in her bedroom. Yes, yes. I know. It's possible that we kept her too long in the cradle in our room. And I'll be honest, neither Hubby nor I wanted to move her into her room. We like having her right there with us. However, in the interest of not making the transistion difficult for our child, we sucked it up and moved her over. She's still not rolling over (again, I think she's a tad bit lazy - haha!) and we are still swaddling her (because we want to sleep - this child is the Queen of the 30-Minute Nap), so I thought it best to move her while she could stay in her cradle, which she's used to. And she did really, really well. She woke up for her bottle at 4:20 am instead of 5:00 am, but I certainly can't complain about that! I even slept better than I thought I would - I expected to be constantly waking up to listen to the monitor but I didn't. And only went in her room to check on her 3 times ... in 1 hour ... but hey, it could be worse :)

Maggie tried avocado for the first time this weekend. Yeah, that didn't go so well. She ate 3 or 4 spoons of it with the funniest look on her face, decided she didn't like it and wanted her bottle. So, I gave her some, thinking we'd try again with the avocado when blgh. Maggie's body totally and completely rejected the avocado. In it's entirety. Plus, of course, the 4 ounces of milk she'd just been drinking. As Hubby said, it was a gusher.

Needless to say, avocado is off the menu. We're going to try sweet potatoes next.

So, we're just rolling along here. Adjusting to some new things and just enjoying our babe.

Happy Monday, y'all!

Maggie's Play Station

A whirl of activity.

That's what our Maggie-Doodle is when she's in her Little Einstein Discover and Play Entertainer. This was a gift from some of the ladies at my work and I gotta tell ya ... Maggie loves it.

The stuff that makes noise? Totally her favorite.

It's so fun to watch how intent she is when playing, as she processes and learns.

Babies are so amazing!

Maggie's getting so big that her feet are flat on the bottom. She could only touch with her tippy-toes just a few short weeks ago! She's growing so fast ... sometimes I wish I could suspend time right now, just for a bit, so we can enjoy extra moments at this age because she's just so fun.

Sigh.

But ... since I can't, I'm just going to enjoy every single second I have with this beautiful smiley little girl.

Halloweeny Game Time

Here's my little Auburn Tiger on her 1st Halloween!

She totally pooped out at the game (ASU v Cal ... we have got to teach these folks out here how to enjoy a football game!!) ... and it was ridiculously hot for an October football game, so we had to strip her down to her onesie. We were all sweaty and hot by the time we left.

Maggie also came to my work on Friday to go 'trick-or-treating' ... for college money, since she's too young for candy. I think maybe she got a quarter ... gotta start somewhere!!

We also visited Samantha, where I had recently put up her fall flowers. As you can see, Maggie very much wanted to get her hands on them ... so she could put them in her mouth, of course :)

Hope y'all had a nice weekend, and a blessed All Saints Day.
